AI Builders Bootcamp: Build and Train Models
8-day bootcamp | Grades 6-8
Go beyond “what is AI” and start building it. In this interactive bootcamp, students train models, experiment with neural networks, generate images, and create custom chatbots. The program culminates in a final project where students design and present their own AI application.
Curriculum Overview
Over the course of 8 weeks, students will go beyond the basics of Artificial Intelligence by building, experimenting, and creating real AI systems through hands-on projects:
-
Foundations of AI & Python
-
Understand how AI works and start coding in Python using Google Colab
-
Build a simple rule-based chatbot to learn core logic and structure
-
-
Machine Learning & Model Training
-
Learn how machines learn from data through training models, using tools like Teachable Machine
-
Explore concepts like data, labels, and prediction.
-
-
Neural Networks
-
Dive into how neural networks function, including neurons, layers, and weights
-
Train and experiment with models to see how accuracy improves
-
-
Computer Vision & Generative AI
-
Discover how AI creates and interprets images
-
Use tools like style transfer to transform images and explore how models generate visuals from noise
-
-
Natural Language Processing & Chatbots
-
Learn how language models work, including tokens and prediction
-
Build a custom AI chatbot with a unique personality using real APIs
-
-
AI in the Real World
-
Explore real-world applications of AI through mini-projects such as spam detection, sentiment analysis, and data prediction
-
Guest speaker (TBD) shares insights into AI research and careers
-
-
Final Project Development
-
Plan, design, and build your own AI project
-
Students will define their idea, gather data, and create a working model with instructor guidance
-
-
Final Presentations
-
Showcase your AI project to peers, answer questions, and reflect on your learning journey
