Money Smart Academy: Financial Literacy Bootcamp
3-Day Workshop | Grades 6–8
Learn the basics of personal finance in this beginner-friendly bootcamp. Students will explore saving, budgeting, and investing through a stock portfolio simulation. No prior knowledge needed — just curiosity.
Curriculum Overview
Over three days, students will develop practical financial skills through interactive activities, real-world examples, and collaborative projects:
Saving & Budgeting
Learn the difference between saving and investing, understand why saving early matters, and build a realistic personal budget.
Investing & the Stock Market
Explore the basics of investing and practice making investment decisions through a mini stock portfolio simulation using real companies.
Understanding the Economy
Learn foundational microeconomics and macroeconomics concepts and discover how individual decisions connect to the larger economy.
Entrepreneurship & Product Strategy
Explore what it takes to turn an idea into a business, including identifying problems, developing products, and thinking strategically about customers.
Startup Capstone
Put your skills into action by developing and pitching your own startup idea as a final capstone project.
Workshop Details
Location: Cupertino Library, Community Room 201 B
Schedule: 3-day bootcamp, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Note: Exact days vary due to library availability. A full schedule will be shared with all registered participants
Who Can Join: Students of all ages are welcome; curriculum is designed for Grades 6–8
Cost: Free of charge
Spots Available: Maximum of 20 students
Materials: Laptops (brought by student)
Experience Level: No prior knowledge needed
Supervision: Led by student teachers Aiden Levit, Jasmine Tan, and Shannon Zhang, in partnership with In Her Purse, a non-profit organization.
